CAIRO – 21 November 2018: Egypt national team Mexican manager, Javier Aguirre, revealed on Tuesday night that he hopes to lead the team to the 2022 World Cup toparticipate at the World Cup for the fifth time.

“I am here to reach the World Cup with the team and participate at the competition for the fifth time after I participated twice as a player and twice as a manager,” Aguirre said during an interview with ONSPORT.

Aguirre represented the Mexican national team between 1983 and 1992 and led them to the 2002 and 2010 World Cup tournaments as a manager.

Aguirre added “negotiations with the EgyptianFederation did not take much time. Imade the decision to accept their offer in only two minutes. HanyRamzy and my friends provided me with information I needed in a short time.”

Aguirre led the national team to reach the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Cameroon after achieving four consecutive victories at the group over Niger at home, eSwatini at home, eSwatini away and Tunisia at home.
