Carteron trusts Al-Ahly fans’ support to the team

CAIRO – 21 November 2018: Despite the disappointment surrounding Al-Ahly football team after losing the CAF Champions League final to Tunisian giants, Esperance, Al-Ahly French manager, Patrice Carteron, believes that Al-Ahly fans’ support to the players will continue.

“Our fans will keep supporting the team to achieve titles and I will do everything I can to achieve that goal,” Carteron told press on Tuesday.

Al-Ahly will face Emirati club, Al-Wasl, at the Arab Club Championship round of 16 second leg.

“We are going through a difficult moment but we have a great desire to reach the next stage. I really respect Al-Wasl team that has many amazing players but we always play to achieve victory,” Al-Ahly assistant coach, Mohamed Youssif, added.

The first leg ended in Egypt with a 2-2 draw and Al-Ahly needs to achieve victory or a draw with more than two goals to reach the second round.

Carteron’s announced squad for the game consists of:
Goalkeepers: Sherif Ekramy, Mohamed el-Shennawy, and Ali Lotfi.

Defenders: Ahmed Alaa, Salif Coulibaly, Saad Samir, Ayman Ashraf, and Sabry Rahil.

Midfielders: Hossam Ashour, Hesham Mohamed, Akram Tawfik, Karim Nedved, Islam Mohareb, Ahmed Hamoudi, Walid Soliman, Mohamed Sherif, Ahmed el-Sheikh, and Nasser Maher.

Forwards: Salah Mohsen, Marwan Mohsen, and Walid Azaro.

Meanwhile, Amr el-Solia, Mido Gaber, Ahmed Fathi, Ali Maaloul, Mohamed Hany and Junior Ajayi were ruled out of the squad for injury.
