CAIRO – 13 November 2018: Al-Ahly assistant coach, Mohamed Youssef, sent a message to Al-Ahly fans asking them to support the team after their CAF Champions League loss to Tunisian giants, Espérance, on Friday night.

“I apologize to Al-Ahly fans, we wanted to win the title and we did everything we could, but we faced difficult circumstances.” Youssef told the Al-Ahly official website on Monday.

Al-Ahly achieved a 3-1 victory at the first leg in Alexandria, but they suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the second leg in Tunisia to lose the final for the second consecutive year.

Youssef added, “We will bounce back after this loss. We will prepare our team psychologically for the next stage of the season.”

Al-Ahly will face Emirati club, Al Wasl, on November.22 at the Arab Club Championship round of 16 second league, and five days later they will face Saudi Arabian club, Al-Ittihad at Saudi-Egyptian Super Cup.

Al-Ahly will return to the League games in December, when they face Arab Contractors.

Zamalek are doing well this season at the league, having achieved 26 points after 11 games and they are leading the league table, six points ahead of the second placed, Smouha.

Al-Ahly has the chance to catch up with Zamalek at the top if they achieved victory at their postponed games.
