CAIRO – 12 November 2018: Al-Ahly President, Mahmoud el-Khatib, revealed on Monday that the team will sign big names in January following their CAF Champions League title loss to Tunisian giants, Espérance, on Friday night.

“I appreciate the fans’ anger after our loss. It was the worst night of my life but this sadness and anger calm me as they prove that we always want our team to be the best in the continent,” Khatib told the club's channel on Monday.

Al-Ahly achieved a 3-1 victory at the first leg in Alexandria but they suffered a humiliating 3-0 defeat at the second leg in Tunisia to lose the final for the second consecutive year.

Khatib added “We will carefully discuss our future plans for the team because many things need to be fixed. We will rebuild our team in January and many big signings will be done.”

Ahly fans are looking for big signings to strengthen their squad, including signing Al-Ahly former winger and Huddersfield Town current player, Ramadan Sobhi, but the player announced on Sunday that he wants to stay with his English club.

Al-Ahly board is set to convene on Thursday and big decisions are expected to be made.
