Know Aguirre's 16-player list which will face Tunisia

CAIRO – 4 November 2018: Egyptian football team’s Mexican coach, Javier Aguirre, announced the list of players, who are playing in the Egyptian league, which will face Tunisia in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifications.

Aguirre included 16 players from the Egyptian league’s teams to be ready for Tunisia’s game which scheduled to be next November 16.

Al-Ahly feeds the national team with the most players, 6, in the expected clash while Zamalek provides the squad with 3 players.

The 16 players are:

Al-Ahly: Mohamed El Shenawy (GK), Ayman Ashraf, Mohamed Hany, Salah Mohsen, Marwan Mohsen and Amr El Soleya.

Zamalek: Gennesh (GK), Mahmoud Hamdy El Wensh, Tarek Hamed

Other: Baher El Mohammady (Ismaily), Ahmed Ayman Mansour and Mohamed Hamdy (Pyramids), Mohamed Mahmoud (Wadi Degla), Islam Gaber (Al Dakhliya), Taher Mohamed Taher (Al Mokawlon)

The Mexican coach decided not to give the opportunity for Al-Ahly and Zamalek’s most amazing stars this season, Walid Soliman and Mahmoud Alaa, respectively.

Aguirre previously announced the 11 foreign based players who will support the national team. They are: Mohamed Salah, Mohamed Awad, Ahmed Hegazi, Mohamed el-Neny, Sam Morsy, Aly Ghazal, Ahmed el-Mohamady, Amr Warda, Amr Tarek, Hussein el-Shahat and Mahmoud Hassan known as Trezeguet.

Egyptian national team’s camp will start on November 12 till the match-day on Friday, November 16. Borg El Arab stadium will host the game at 6:00 p.m.

Egypt and Tunisia secured qualification for the tournament since the last round after Egypt achieved an away 2-0 victory over eSwatini, while Tunisia defeated Niger 2-1 in Niamey.


Tunisia leads the group with 12 points from four consecutive victories, three points ahead of Egypt that comes second, while Niger and eSwatini share the bottom with one point each.


Aguirre hopes to continue his amazing run with the national team as he achieved three victories in three official games since he was appointed national team manager following Egypt’s world Cup early exit.
