CAIRO – 20 May 2017: Egypt hosted Friday the first women's rugby (American football) international matchup in the Arab world and MENA region under the auspices of Minister of Youth and Sports Dr. Khaled Abdel-Aziz.

The national team took on its Moroccan peers 37-18 on the field of the Olympics center in Maadi, Cairo.

The Egyptian team made a full-blown possession over the guests before the Moroccan team rallies to score three goals two minutes before the end of the game.

The American football has been on the rise in Egypt since 2014 when Egypt gained the membership of the International Federation of American Football.

One year later, the Egyptian Federation of the American Football (EFAF) was already established, coinciding with the emergence of a growing number of both women and men team squads.
