CAIRO – 11 July 2018: England manager, Gareth Southgate, showed his admiration to the role that England international, Raheem Sterling, plays with the team at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

“If you look at all of our attacking patterns and the way that our front four have combined and played, he has been instrumental in that,” Southgate said.

English media criticized Sterling after he failed to score any goals at the World Cup, missing many clear chances during England's run at the tournament.

Southgate added: “He is a player that is really appreciated by the team. We are really pleased with his contribution.”

England has had an amazing run at the tournament and they reached the semi-finals for the third time in their history and the first time since 1990.

Southgate revealed that all the squad players are ready for the semi-final clash against Croatia.

“We have every player available, which is huge credit to our players for the way they have committed to the physical programmes that we have done,” Southgate said.
