CAIRO – 9 July 2018: Pyramids FC, formerly known as Al Assiouty Sports, announced earlier this Monday the signing of Zamalek’s defender, Ali Gabr. The player has been part of Zamalek since 2014 and has won the Egyptian League, the Super Cup and the Egyptian Cup twice.

Gabr, 29, moved to West Bromwich Albion on loan in 2018 but didn’t have enough game time and the team failed to remain in the English Premier League.

Zamalek’s chairman, Mortada Mansour, confirmed the move two weeks ago before it was made official; “West Bromwich decided not to buy the player after the end of the loan period, so we are selling him for about $2.5 million.”

“Gabr is currently sitting with the club’s officials (Pyramids) and they’re finalizing all the details,” Mansour told the Egyptian television.

Pyramids FC made numerous signings going into the new season, as they earlier confirmed the signing of Zamalek midfielder Ahmed Tawfik, Brazilian duo Marcos da Silva Franca and Lucas Ribamar, alongside Arab Contractors’ Mohamed Farouk.
