Netherland's Kuipers officiates Egypt, Uruguay clash

CAIRO – 15 June 2018: Dutch referee, Bjorn Kuipers, is set to take charge of the Group A game between Egypt and Uruguay on Friday at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Kuipers is one of the top referees in Europe and he officiated at the 2011 UEFA Super Cup, 2013 UEFA Europa League Final, 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup Final, 2014 UEFA Champions League Final, 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup Final and 2018 UEFA Europa League Final.

Sander van Roekel and Erwin Zeinstra will be the assistant referees at the game.

Egypt will wear their home kits at the game, while the South American team will play with the away kits.

Egyptian players will wear red shirts, black shorts and black socks and the Egyptian goalkeeper’s kit will be all blue.

Uruguayan players will wear all white kits and their goalkeeper will wear an all green kit.

The World Cup draw put Egypt in Group A alongside Uruguay, Saudi Arabia and the host nation, Russia.

Egypt will appear at the World Cup for the third time in history and the first time since 1990.
