Volleyball national team prepares for Mediterranean games

CAIRO – 31 May 2018: Egypt Men’s Volleyball national team started their preparations for the 2018 Mediterranean games in Tarragona, Spain.

The national team manager, Mohamed Mselhi, called 20 players for the national team camp in Port Said.

Mselhi’s chosen players are Abdallah Abdel Salam, Ahmed Salah, Ahmed Said, Mohamed Adel, Hussam Youssef, Mustafa Ibrahim, Reda Heikal, Ahmed Abdel Aal, Abdel Rahman Saeed, Ahmed Diaa, Abdel Rahman Saudi, Ahmed Mohamed Abdel Aal, Mohammed Husseini, Shahab Tariq, Rashad Shabl, Ahmed Saber, Omar Najib, Sharif Ibrahim, Hisham Yousry and Mohammad Ramadan.

The team will rest for two days after the camp in Port Said before their final camp in the Olympic Center camp between June 12 and June 20 before heading to Spain.

The Egyptian team hopes to repeat their biggest achievement in the tournament when they won Men’s Volleyball Gold Medal at the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Almeria, Spain.

The tournament will be the first for the new national team head coach, Mselhi, and his assistants Wael el-Aidy and Islam Othman who were appointed in charge In April 2018.

The national team qualified to the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Men's World Championship in Italy and Bulgaria after achieving the second place at the 2017 Men's African Volleyball Championship.

Tarragona hosts the Mediterranean games between June 22 and July 1.
