CAIRO – 22 May 2018: Arsenal announced on Monday that their Spanish midfielder, Santi Cazorla, will leave the club when his contract expires next month.

Cazorla, 33, did not play a game since October 2016, as he suffered a serious Achilles tendon injury that ruled him out of playing since then.

“Santi is always one of my favorite players to watch. He plays with a joy and freedom which is very rare,” Ivan Gazidis, Arsenal chief executive, commented on Cazorla’s departure.

Cazorla joined Arsenal in 2012 from Malaga and since then established himself as one of the key players on the team.

Cazorla achieved back-to-back FA Cup titles with Arsenal in 2014 and 2015, and he also won the Community Shield in 2014 and 2015.

Cazorla was named Arsenal Player of the Season in his first season with the club.
"We wish him well for the future and thank him for his important contribution to our club," Gazidis added.

Cazorla wore Arsenal’s jersey in 180 games and he scored 29 goals for the Gunners.
