CAIRO – 10 May 2017: Real Madrid managed to reach the final of the UEFA Champions League for the third time in the last four years despite losing to rival Atletico Madrid 2-1 in the second leg of the semifinals on Wednesday, though Real won 4-2 on aggregate.

All the match’s goals came in the first 45 minutes; as Saul Niguez and Antoine Griezmann scored the two goals for Atletico Madrid, while midfielder Francisco Román, known as Isco, scored Real Madrid’s only goal. Atletico won the game, though it was not enough to advance to the final.

In the first leg, Cristiano Ronaldo, who has 103 career goals to his name in the competition, scored three goals securing a comfortable win of 3-0 which helped his teammates to play calmly throughout the match.

The two teams have met on three previous occasions in the tournament’s knockout stages, with Real Madrid winning in all of the clashes.

The Spanish champions will meet Juventus in the final match scheduled on June 3 at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, United Kingdom.
