CAIRO – 1 May 2018: Zamalek is entering into serious negotiations to sign Mohamed Abdel Shafy, the team’s former left back, whose contract with Saudi Arabia’s Al-Ahli will end at the end of the current season.

Zamalek officials have intensified their negotiations with Abdel Shafy, as the player has been given the right to move to any club in the forthcoming transfer market after his contract ends.

Zamalek officials believe that signing Abdel Shafy will be the best solution to the team’s left-back crisis, especially after the team faced difficulties in signing Al-Masry left back Mohamed Hamdy after Hossam Hassan, Al-Masry head coach, refused to let Hamdy sign for Zamalek.

The next few days shall see who is signed as Zamalek’s left back, but Mohamed Abdel Shafy is the most likely to join.
