CAIRO – 28 April 2018: Arsene Wenger announced that he will leave Arsenal at the end of the season, after being linked with the team for 21 years.

But it is not the end of his professional career, as the French coach has said he wants to continue his coaching career. At 68, Wenger has not lost the enthusiasm for his work.

Wenger has been criticized a lot in recent years for Arsenal’s bad results in the Premier League and Champions League. But with his announcement, many have sympathized with him, assuring that he deserves a more descent farewell, as he achieved 17 titles for Arsenal throughout his 21 years with the Gunners.

The Spanish newspaper AS revealed that Wenger rejected an offer from the Chinese Super Liga that amounted €27 million ($32.8 million) per season, which would have made him the best paid coach in the world, exceeding the salary of China coach Marcello Lippi. This offer would triple his current €9-million salary at Arsenal, but he doesn’t want to head to the Far East.

The French coach also has offers from Spain and France. Paris Saint Germain could offer him the chance to work alongside their expected next coach, Thomas Tuchel. But for the moment, Wenger prefers to remain on the bench, not in a management position.
