CAIRO – 24 April 2018: The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on Tuesday that Egyptian referee Mohamed El-Hanafy will referee the Cairo Derby between Al-Ahly and Zamalek.

The EFA also appointed Samir Gamal and Abdel-Fattah Erisha as assistant referees, while Sameh Farouk will be the fourth official in the game.

Hanafy refereed five games for Al-Ahly this season; they won three games and two games ended with a draw. On the other hand, he only refereed two games for Zamalek this season; they lost one game and the other game ended with a draw.

Hanafy is the first Egyptian referee to take charge of a Cairo Derby since Mohamed Farouk refereed the 2014 Egyptian Super Cup between Al-Ahly and Zamalek, which Al-Ahly won on penalties.

Al-Ahly faces Zamalek Thursday night at Cairo Stadium in the last fixture of the Egyptian Premier League this season.

Al-Ahly achieved the Egyptian League title in March, six weeks before the end of the season, and they are leading the table with 85 points, 27 points ahead of the third-placed Zamalek.
