CAIRO – 15 April 2018: Egypt and Zamalek’s goalkeeper Ahmed El-Shenawy confirmed that he suffered an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament, on his official Twitter account.


The Egyptian international goalkeeper confirmed that he will miss the 2018 World Cup.




The Egyptian goalkeeper suffered his injury during Zamalek’s match against Ittihad in the Egyptian league. He also mentioned that he will travel to Germany to know the extent of his injury.

“I want to thank God for everything and ask you to pray for me. Good luck to my club Zamalek and their amazing fans, the Egyptian national team in the World Cup and to my family and the people of Portsaid,” El-Shenawy said on his Twitter account.




El-Shenawy confirmed that he had a rupture of the inner ligament and a knee scrape after the radiation and the tests he underwent on Sunday.
