CAIRO – 5 May 2017: Al-Ahly secured its top spot in the Egyptian Premier League after snatching a last minute 2-1 win against Talae El-Geish at a match that took place at the Suez Stadium on Thursday.

Midfielder Abdullah Al-Said scored the first goal, converting a penalty in the 25th minute before Moatamed Mohsen managed to score an equalizing goal only 5 minutes into the second half to make it 1-1.

The match remained tense and possession was roughly equal between the two sides.

Al-Ahly's substitute Mido Gaber managed to score a last-minute goal for his side only a minute before the referee’s whistle signaled the end of the match.

With this win, Al-Ahly chalked up an eight point lead over the second-placed Masr Al-Makassa, while Talae El-Geish sits 10th with 35 points, setting a record of winning 34 consecutive games in the 2016-17 season
