Del Potro knocks Raonic out in Miami quarter finals

CAIRO – 29 March 2018: The Argentinean Juan Martin del Potro won over the Canadian Milos Raonic 2-1 in Miami’s open quarter finals on Thursday.

Raonic took the lead by winning the first set, but the Argentinean made a comeback and won two sets in a row. The tough and intense match lasted for almost three hours with the presence of an energetic crowd that was strongly supporting Del Potro.

Juan Martin qualified for the semi-finals against the American John Isner which will be held on Friday.

In his route to the semi-finals, Del Potro defeated Filip Krajinovic, Kei Nishikori and Robin Haase before defeating Raonic.

The 2009 U.S Open champion is now experiencing an amazing season after battling serious wrist injuries which required several surgeries and threatened to end his career.

Almost 10 days ago, the Argentinean claimed the Indian Wells title against Roger Federer and won two sets to one.

In women’s singles quarter final, Venus Williams lost against Danielle Collins in the quarter-finals. Collins won easily over Williams 6-2, 6-3, and she is scheduled to play against 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko.

Miami Open championship began on March 20 and will end on April 4, 2018.
