CAIRO – 29 March 2018: After his criticism of Mohamed el-Neny's performance, former Egyptian international player, Ahmed Hossam (also known as Mido), revealed on Thursday that Neny is an irreplaceable player in the Egyptian squad.

“I was wrong about Neny. I watched his last three games with Arsenal and his last two games with the national team and I was impressed with his performance,” Mido tweeted on Thursday.

Mido had criticized Neny’s performance with the national team ahead of the 2017 African Cup of Nations in Gabon, where Egypt lost the final 2-1 to Cameroon, with Neny scoring Egypt’s only goal at the game.

Mido added, “He is an irreplaceable player in the national team squad and I want to congratulate him for renewing his contract with Arsenal.”

Neny has signed a long-term contract with Arsenal on Monday, which asserts his importance for the club.

Neny thanked Mido after his tweet, saying, "Your opinion helps us to improve our performance. Hope to see you soon in London."

Neny participated in the national team campaign to qualify for the World Cup in Russia.
