CAIRO – 24 March 2018: Cuper created a WhatApp group called “World Cup Quarter Final”, to show that he believes in the abilities of the Egyptian national team.

Former Wadi Degla coach, Ahmed Hossam Mido, claimed that Egypt’s Argentinean coach, Hector Cuper, believes in his team’s ability to qualify for the 2018 World Cup quarter-final.

“This WhatsApp group includes the coaching staff and all the players, one of the players told me,” said Mido to ON Sport channel, where he works as a pundit, after Egypt’s friendly game against Portugal.

Egypt lost 2-1 to Portugal in a friendly match on Friday night at Letzigrund Stadium in Zurich. Egypt was in the lead until Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals during additional time, leading Portugal to victory.

“Everyone should believe in our Egyptian team as Cuper does,” Mido stated.

"What saddens me most about the defeat against Portugal is the fact that some people did not believe that we could’ve won."

Egypt is set to play Greece on Tuesday in another friendly game at Letzigrund Stadium.
The Egyptian kick-off in the World Cup will be against Uruguay on June 15. Egyptian fans have waited 28 years to be part of the World Cup again.

Egypt will then play against Russia, the host of the 2018 FIFA World Cup on June 19. After which, Egypt will face Saudi Arabia on June 25 in the last game of Group A.
