CAIRO – 20 March 2018: Walid Azarou, Al-Ahly’s Moroccan striker, will be absent from the Best Moroccan Player ceremony scheduled for Monday evening in the Moroccan capital of Casablanca.

Azarou’s absence came after he was called to join the Moroccan national team’s camp in Italy. He travelled directly after Al-Ahly’s game against Gabonese team Mounana in the CAF African Champions League, which ended with Al-Ahly winning 3-1.

The Moroccan national team, known as the Atlantic Lions, called Walid Azarou to participate with the team in the two friendly matches against Serbia and Uzbekistan in preparations for the World Cup scheduled for next June in Russia.

The first game against Serbia will be played in the Italian city of Turin at Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino on March 23, while the second game against Uzbekistan will be played in Casablanca at Stade Mohammed V on March 27.
