MADRID, March 16 (Reuters) - Chelsea full back Marcos Alonso received his first call up to the Spain squad on Friday for the team's friendlies against Germany and Argentina while former Blues striker Diego Costa returns to the international fold.

Valencia midfielder Dani Parejo was also selected in the Spain squad for the first time, having helped his club side's march towards a likely top-four finish and a return to the Champions League.

Villarreal holding midfielder Rodrigo 'Rodri' Hernandez also earned a first call-up, making the leap from the under-21s to the first team.

Atletico striker Costa returns to the national team for the first time since last June, having been left out by coach Julen Lopetegui when the combative forward was unable to play for the club because of its transfer ban.

Costa had completed a 57 million pound ($79.6 million) deal to rejoin Atletico from Chelsea in September, but the move was delayed by La Liga club’s ban on registering new players, which expired on Jan. 1.

Spain play Germany in Dusseldorf on March 23 and host Argentina on March 27 at Atletico's Wanda Metropolitano stadium.
