Al-Ahly honors former legends and stars

CAIRO – 15 March 2018: Al-Ahly’s board of directors, headed by Mahmoud el-khatib, will hold an event on Sunday honoring Al-Ahly’s legends.

khatib will honor Al-Ahly’s former stars, who are over 75 years old, in all sports. Al-Ahly wants to make a new tradition of gathering all the seniors who served the club and contributed to its victories.

Also, khatib will hold a press conference after the ceremony to announce many construction projects in each of the three branches of the club.

Al-Ahly’s board of directors invited all the legends and stars in sports, media and press to attend this celebration. Khatib aims to establish strong relations between the different generations of the club.

Most of these approaches are very important to the club's fans; especially that khatib faced many criticisms in the past few days following the Ultras’ incident that took place in Al-Ahly’s game against Mounana in the 32nd round of CAF Champions league at the Cairo Stadium.

A number of Al-Ahly and Gabon's CF Mounana fans raised their chairs in the air and lit flares , causing a state of chaos; the game ended with Al-Ahly winning 4-0.

It is reported that Al-Ahly president, Khatib, handed a list of the fans names to the security forces, accusing them of committing the offence of rioting.

The Cairo Stadium faced huge damages during the riots, which are estimated at LE 650,000 ($36,913).
