CAIRO – 21 February 2018: The Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on Wednesday that the Egyptian national team will play against Belgium on June 6 during the Egyptian pre-World Cup camp in Belgium. The city and the stadium that will host the game will be decided later.

Egypt has a great record against Belgium, as they met twice before in friendly games and the Egyptian national team managed to achieve the victory in both of them.

The first one was in 1999 in Wembley Stadium in London and the game ended with a 1-0 victory for the Pharaohs thanks to a goal from Hazem Imam.

The second game was in 2005 in Cairo when Egypt defeated their visitors 4-0. Emad Motaeb scored two goals, while Ahmed Eid and Osama Hosny added the other two goals.

EFA are still working on reaching an agreement with other national teams to play friendly games before the World Cup.

Egypt will play against Portugal and Greece during FIFA International break in March.

The World Cup draw put Egypt in Group A alongside Saudi Arabia, Uruguay and the host nation, Russia. Egypt opens their participation against Uruguay on June 15.
