CAIRO – 9 February 2018: CAF President Ahmad Ahmad praised Liverpool Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah during his visit to the Egyptian Olympic committee headquarters and the Association of African Sports Confederations “UCSA” on Friday.

“I congratulated Salah after winning CAF Player of the Year. He is a great player and I respect what he has achieved at the Premier League,” Ahmad told press on Friday.

Salah won the African Player of the Year award in January, becoming the second Egyptian player to achieve the award after Mahmoud El-Khatib did in 1983.

Salah is Liverpool’s top goal scorer in the Premier League with 21 goals. He is one goal behind the Premier League’s top goal scorer, Harry Kane.

Ahmed added, “Egyptians should keep supporting him to maintain his performance and achieve all his goals, including the Ballon D’Or award.”

Ahmed held a meeting at the UCSA headquarters in Cairo with Egyptian Football Federation President Hany Abo Rida and UCSA President Ahmed Nasser about the 2019 African Games that will take place in Lusaka, Zambia.
