CAIRO – 9 February 2018: El-Masry manager, Hossam Hassan, believes that playing in Port Said stadium will motivate El-Masry players for the CAF Confederation Cup this season.

“Returning to play in Port Said will be an additional motivation for us. Our fans will support us and will lead us to get the result we're aiming for. I'm positive we will reach the next round," Hassan said on CAF's official website on Friday.

El-Masry will return to play in Port Said for the first time since Port Sid stadium massacre on February 2012 when 72 Al-Ahly fans were killed during a game between Al- Ahly and El- Masry at the Egyptian League.

El–Masry will host Zambia’s Green Buffaloes on Saturday February 10 in the first leg of the preliminary round before playing the second leg in Zambia on February 20.

Hassan added, ”we have to put our domestic campaign aside and shift our attention to the CAF Confederation Cup, we are ready and poised to grab a positive result to make the return leg in Zambia a mere formality.”

El–Masry hopes to repeat their biggest achievement on continental level. They managed to qualify for the semi-final of the CAF Cup in 1999 and CAF Cup in 2002.
