CAIRO – 26 January 2018: Jose Mourinho's contract has been renewed by Manchester United until 2020, with the option of one more season.

Manchester United has made it official on Thursday in a statement in which it reports that the two sides have reached an agreement and Mourinho remains at United until June 30, 2020.

Both Jose Mourinho, coach of Manchester United, and Ed Woodward, executive vice president of Manchester United, have congratulated each other for having reached this new agreement.

Jose Mourinho , who has already given his first trophies to Manchester United with the achievement of the Europa League and the EFL Cup last season, said that "I am really honored and proud to be the coach of Manchester United. I would like to thank the owners and Mr. Woodward for the recognition of my hard work and dedication, and I am delighted that they feel and trust that I am the right coach for this great club in the near future."

Jose Mourinho, 54 years old, had a contract with Manchester United until 2019 and has now renewed it until 2020, with the option of one more season.

The Portuguese coach replaced Louis van Gaal in May 2016, winning in his first season the EFL Cup and the Europa League.

This season Manchester United is second in the Premier League standings behind their eternal rivals, Guardiola's Manchester City, and still competing in the Champions League 2017/ 2018.
