CAIRO - 25 January 2018: Egypt qualified for the 2018 African Handball Championship final after defeating Morocco in the semi final 31-19. Egypt also guaranteed a place in the World Cup finals which will be held in Germany and Denmark in 2019.

Egypt is scheduled to meet Tunisia in the final match on Saturday. Marwan Ragab, Egypt’s national team coach, led his team to this stage after they defeated Congo 37-22 in the quarter finals.

Egypt qualified for the quarter finals after topping Group B with eight points. They opened their participation in the tournament defeating Morocco 33-28, and then achieved their second victory the day after against Nigeria 27-22.

They defeated Angola 25-20 on Sunday before defeating the Democratic Republic of the Congo 36-27.

Three Arab nations have dominated the winner podium since the tournament’s inception. Tunisia has won nine titles, Algeria has won seven titles and Egypt has won six titles.

Gabon hosts the 23rd edition of the tournament between January 17 and 27, 2018.
The pharaohs are aiming to win their seventh title in their history.
