CAIRO – 18 January 2018: Egypt’s national team achieved their second victory at the 2018 African Men's Handball Championship, defeating Nigeria 27-22 on Thursday.

Egypt dominated the game from the start, leading the first half with 12-10 and ending the second half of the game 27-22.

Egypt opened defeated Morocco 33-28 on Wednesday in their opening match of the tournament.

Egypt’s national team will rest for two days before meeting Angola on Sunday, January 21. The team will then play their last game in the first stage against the Democratic Republic of Congo on Monday.
The draw was held in November and put Egypt in Group B alongside Angola, Morocco, Nigeria, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The best three teams in the tournament will qualify for the 2019 Men's World Handball Championship in Denmark and Germany.
Three Arab nations have dominated the winner podium since the tournament’s inception. Tunisia have won nine titles, Algeria have won seven titles and Egypt have won six titles.
Gabon hosts the 23rd edition of the tournament between January 17 and January 27, 2018.
