CAIRO - 11 January 2018: Carlo Tavecchio, former president of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), considered it unlikely that Italy would choose a new coach for the national team before June.

"Before June, no one will accept because everyone already has signed contracts, making a contract for June is difficult," Tavecchio told the media.

The former president of the FIGC, who resigned after the failure of the World Cup in Italy, recalled that the day after the Italian national team lost against Sweden in November he contacted "half of Europe" in search of substitutes for the ex-coach Gian Piero Ventura.

The Italian national team did not qualify for the Russia 2018 World Cup, the first time they have not qualified for a world cup in 60 years. Other big teams who also failed to qualify include: Chile, the Netherlands, Ghana, and the USA.
Carlo Ancelotti and Roberto Mancini are the possible candidates for the position.
