Al-Ahly usually defeats Zamalek in 1st half of the EPL

CAIRO – 8 January 2018: Zamalek will try to reduce their points deficit against Al-Ahly in their upcoming derby for the 17th round of the Egyptian Premiere League.

Al-Ahly are expected to win in their 51st meeting with Zamalek because of the latter’s recent poor form. The match will be the first against Al-Ahly for Zamalek’s new coach Ehab Galal.

Historically, Al-Ahly has always had a better first half to the season than Zamalek and this year is no exception; the red team has won 11 matches, drawn in three and lost only one. Meanwhile, Zamalek have won only eight matches, drawn in four and lost four.

Zamalek will host Al-Ahly on Monday for the most anticipated Egyptian derby in the 17th round of the Egyptian Premiere League at the Cairo International stadium at 7 p.m.


Al-Ahly places second with 36 points after 15 played matches; meanwhile, Zamalek is fourth with 28 points after 16 games.
