CAIRO – 6 January 2018: Zamalek appointed Ihab Galal on Saturday as the club’s new manager to succeed the sacked Nebojša Jovović.

Galal signed a contract for one and a half years after he paid the release clause to his club Enppi.

Galal’s assistant staff consists of Hamad Ibrahim and Nabil Mahmoud, as assistant coaches, and Mostafa Kamal, as a goalkeeping coach.

Galal’s debut with Zamalek will be on Monday, January 8, against Al-Ahly at Cairo Derby.

Galah started his managerial career in 2009 and managed seven teams before Zamalek.

Galal’s best achievement as a manager was in the last season when he led Misr El-Makassa to finish the league in second place and qualified for the CAF Champions League for the first time in their history.

Zamalek sacked the club’s Montenegrin manager, Nebojša Jovović, after losing 1-0 to El-Gaish on Wednesday night.

Zamalek fans put all their hopes on Galal to improve the team’s current situation in the league, as they are in fourth place with 28 points, nine points behind Ismaily, the leaders.
