CAIRO – 4 January 2018: Head of the Egyptian Football Association, Hany Abu Reida, said during his meeting with the board members of EFA on Thursday that he expects Egypt to take over the CAF Best Awards 2017.

During a speech by the president of the Football Association with the members of the Gabaliyya, he explained that the Egyptian team achieved the best results in the African continent in 2017. The team managed to qualify to the finals of the African Cup of Nations held in Gabon and the team succeeded to qualify to the World Cup 2018, Super Kora reported.

Abu Reida said in his speech that there is no team in the African continent in 2017 that managed to achieve what Egypt has achieved and that is why it deserves to be the team of the year while its Argentinean coach Hector Cuper deserves to win the best coach in Africa, as well.

On the award of the best player, Abu Reida talked about the Egyptian rising star Mohamed Salah who was exceptional in 2017 and the star of Egypt in the African Cup of Nations. Salah also gave a brilliant performance with Roma in the first half of the year and subsequently the same in Liverpool, where he became one of the top players of the English Premier League. Currently, Salah competes to win the highest scorer of the PL against England’s Harry Kane.
