CAIRO – 30 December 2017: Chelsea’s Spanish striker, Alvaro Morata, denied claims by Tottenham Hotspurs manager Mauricio Pochettino that he refused to join Tottenham because of Harry Kane.

“No, it is not true; I did talk to him. He said he wanted us to play together up front. At that moment there was no chance of signing for Tottenham," Morata told Marca on Saturday.

Morata rejected an offer to join Tottenham Hotspurs last summer and he preferred Chelsea over Real Madrid.

The Spanish striker praised Tottenham striker Harry Kane, saying, “Of course I'd like to play with him. He is a great player and one of the best strikers in the world."

Morata, 25, had a great start with Chelsea in his Premier League season. He scored 10 goals and provided four assists in 15 matches.

The English striker is considered one of the most valuable players in Tottenham’s history, as he was the top scorer of the Premier League in the previous two editions.
