CAIRO – 28 December 2017: Ajax announced on Thursday that they have reached an agreement with Erik Ten Hag to be the first team head coach. Ten Hag signed a two-and-half-year contract with the club.

Ten Hag is a former Dutch midfielder who played most of his career with FC Twente in the Dutch League.

Ajax chose Ten Hag after his amazing run with Utrecht FC when he led the team to finish fourth in the Dutch League’s last season and qualified for the Europa League qualifiers.

Ten Hag worked alongside Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola during his time at Bayern Munich as Ten Hag was the reserve team manager.

Erik will succeed former manager Marcel Keizer and his assistants, Dennis Bergkamp and Hennie Spijkerman, who got sacked on Friday.

The 47-year-old manager will start his mission with a tough clash when Ajax hosts the reigning champions, Feyenoord, on January 21.
