CAIRO – 19 December 2017: Real Madrid’s Croatian midfielder, Luka Modric, has acknowledged that achieving the Club World Cup has not curbed his desire to win trophies. He explained that even if he is “satisfied”, he still “wants more”.

Modric commented on the expected Clasico match between Real Madrid and Barcelona on Saturday at Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid.

“Winning will depend on playing together, on how we read the game and how we play as a unified team. It is important to be together and not give Barcelona any space, because if you let them play, they have players who can really punish you. The two teams have some great players and any of them can decide the game,” he said in statements provided by Codere, Real Madrid’s official betting partners.

Modric expects to continue the run of results of the last matches against Barcelona, led by Ernesto Valverde.

Zinedine Zidane and his players are already preparing for the Clasico, and Modric has given his tips for this clash. “We want to win every possible title again. We are there in the league and we will give everything we can to try to overcome. There is also a lot to play for in the Champions League and the Copa del Rey, which we would love to win again,” he continued.

A very important factor for the player is that the match is played at the Santiago Bernabéu. “Our fans are always there supporting us. In the big games, they always support us, and I hope they create a great atmosphere and give it their all in the stands, just as we will on the pitch. We hope they go home happy,” he stated.

Asked about his aspirations within the club, the Croatian is clear that he wants to retire at Real Madrid. "I have always had confidence and had it in my mind that I was going to go far. Signing for Real Madrid and winning titles is a dream come true. There are not many players who have managed to retire whilst playing for such a team and let's see what happens. That is my real aim. I also need to win something with Croatia," Modric concluded.
