CAIRO – 10 December 2017: The Squash World Championship kicks off in Manchester on Sunday; the championship will be held from December 10 to 17.

Thirteen Egyptian players are participating in the men’s competitions; Ramy Ashour, Mohamed Shorbagy, Karim Abdel Gawad, Ali Farag, Tarek Momen, Omar Mosaad, Mohamed Ali Reda, Karim Fathi, Mohamed Abo Elghar, Zahed Mohamed, Omar Abdel Magid, Marwan Shorbagy and Mazen Hisham.

Five players are participating in the women’s competitions; Nour Elsherbiny, Ranim Elwlely, Nouran Gohar, Mariam Metwally and Nour Eltayeb.

The Egyptian squash team won the World Squash Championship title after defeating their English counterpart 2-0 in the final round of the tournament in Marseille, France.

The national team won the title for the fourth time in its history in 2015 after having achieved it three times in 1999, 2009 and 2011.

The World Squash Championship is held every two years.
