CAIRO – 10 December 2017: The Arab Federation of Sports Journalism has revealed the list of candidates for the 2017 Arab Player of the Year award.

The Algerian Press Service (APS) announced the list of 10 candidates for the 2017 Arab Player of the Year award, including Algeria's Yasin Brahimi of Porto, Egypt’s Mohamed Salah of Liverpool.

The full list of candidates is as follows:
1- Omar Alsumah (Syria) – Al Ahly Saudi
2- Nawaf Al Abed (Saudi Arabia) – Al-Hilal
3- Karim Al-Ahmadi (Morocco) – Feyenoord
4- Youssif Al-Masakeni (Tunisia) – Al-Dahil
5- Omar Abdul Rahman Amouri (UAE) – Al-Ain
6- Omar Kherbin (Syria) – Al-Hilal
7- Ashraf Ben Charky (Morocco) – Wydad Casablanca
8- Muhannad Abdel Rehim Karrar (Iraq) – Al-Zafra
9- Mohamed Salah (Egypt) – Liverpool
10- Yasin Brahimi (Algeria) – Porto

The agency added that the Arab Federation of Sports Journalism chose the 10 candidates based on the individual and collective achievements they have achieved throughout the year.

Salah gained his eighth goal in the Champions League and has currently amassed eight goals from 21 games with four teams: Basel, Chelsea, Roma and Liverpool.

The 25-year-old needs only five more goals to become the top Arab scorer in Champions League history.

The Egyptian winger is the Premier League’s top scorer with 12 goals, two goals ahead of Harry Kane.

Salah won the PFA Fans’ Player of the Month award, and he was the first Egyptian to win such an award.

Moroccan captain Medhi Ben Attia was crowned winner in the first edition in 2015, while Algeria's Riyad Mahrez of Leicester City won the award in 2016.
