CAIRO – 2 December 2017: The World Cup draw held on Friday at the State Kremlin Palace in Moscow put Spain in a tough group alongside Portugal, Morocco and Iran.
Spain’s national team manager Julen Lopetegui believes that his team is placed in a difficult group.

“It is complicated, difficult and hard, which is the way it always was going to be at a World Cup,” Lopetegui told the press after the draw.

Spain was among the second-ranked teams and they were expected to play in a tough group with one of the first-ranked teams.

Lopetegui spoke about the group teams; “Portugal is a great team that has won [a trophy] recently. Morocco qualified at the expense of the Ivory Coast and they are a solid side while Iran did not concede a goal during their qualification.”

Spain is playing in their first game in the tournament against Portugal before playing against Iran and Morocco.

Spain’s players hope to repeat their greatest victory in the World Cup when they won the title in 2010 in South Africa.
