CAIRO – 29 November 2017: Al-Hilal and Syrian national team player, Omar Khribin received AFC Player of the Year on Wednesday at a ceremony held in Bangkok, Thailand.

“This award is dedicated to my teammates in the Syrian national team and Al-Hilal; we promise our fans to keep doing our best,” Khribin stated.
Khribin won the award despite the tough competition with the 2016 AFC Player of the Year, Omar Abdel Rahman from Al-Ain, and Wu Lei from Shanghai SIPG.

Khribin had an amazing year with Al-Hilal, as he helped them to win the 2017 Saudi Arabian League title, scoring seven goals in the league.

Khribin also took Al-Hilal to the 2017 AFC Champions League finals where they lost to Japan’s Uraw Red Diamonds. Khribin was the tournament’s top goal scorer with 10 goals.

On the international level, Khribin qualified with his national team to the third round of the World Cup qualifiers where they lost to Australia. Khribin was also his team’s top goal scorer in the qualifiers as he scored 11 goals.
