CAIRO – 20 November 2017 : Egyptian right back Omar Gaber has reached an agreement with MLS club, Los Angeles FC to join the team this winter on a six-month loan from Switzerland’s Basel, according to Kingfut’s official Instagram account.

Gaber has struggled this season to establish himself as Basel manager Raphaël Wicky’s first choice in this position.

Gaber hopes to earn more minutes with his American club to be able to fight for a starting place in the Egyptian squad at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Gaber will play under the command of his former coach in the national team, Bob Bradley, who is managing Los Angeles.

Gaber, 25, left his childhood club, Zamalek, to play for Basel in 2016 but he couldn’t earn a regular place in the team’s starting line-up.

Los Angeles will play in MLS for the first time in their history next season. Bradley hopes to have experienced players alongside him in his difficult mission with the club.

Gaber will be the second Egyptian player in MLS as Egyptian defender Ali Ghazal plays for Vancouver Whitecaps.
