Cairo - 02 November 2017: Faouzi Ghoulam, Napoli’s defender, will undergo surgery on Friday due to a knee injury he suffered while playing with Napoli in the defeat against Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League.

The Napoli defender was forced off the pitch in the 31st minute of first half during his club's 2-4 loss to Manchester City.

The results of the scan showed Ghoulam ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his knee, entailing a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

He is expected to be out for 4-5 months, and Maurizio Sarri considers his player’s injury a bigger loss than the match.

Napoli is leading the Series A with 30 points, and everyone considers them a real contender for the Italian League title.

Arkadiusz Milik was injured in September with the same injury and is expected to be back by the middle of the season.

The Algerian international will miss important matches, including against AC Milan, Juventus, Lazio and AS Roma.
