CAIRO – 2 November 2017: Argentinean club Lanus defeated their local opponent River Plate 4-2 on Wednesday morning to qualify to the Copa Libertadores final.

Lanus returned from a 0-1 loss in the first leg and a 2-1 loss in the second leg first half to qualify to the final.

The game was played at Lanus Stadium, and Estadio Ciudad de Lanús started well for the visitors, scoring the first goal through a penalty by Ignacio Scocco in the 17th minute.

Five minutes later, River added the second goal through a header by Gonzalo Montiel.

Lanus striker Jose Sand brought Lanus back to the game when he scored two goals, the first one seconds before the first half final whistle and the second one seconds after the second half start, giving his team hope again.

Lautaro Acosta scored Lanus’ third goal in the 61st minute to make them only one goal away from the final.

Lanus midfielder Alejandro Silva scored a penalty in the 69th minute to make the score 4-2, leading his team to the final.

Lanus qualified to the final for the first time in history. Lanus awaits the winner of the other semi-final between Brazil’s Gremio and Ecuador’s Barcelona Guayaquil.
