CAIRO – 24 October 2017: Everton wants to name the successor of former manager Ronald Koeman and began searching for a new coach.

Everton sacked Koeman after they dropped into the relegation zone following Sunday's 5-2 home defeat to Arsenal, the Premier League club said on Monday. Everton is set to meet Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in English Premier League. David Unsworth, Koeman’s assistant, is expected to lead the team but his stay on the bench is tentative.

A lot of names for a potential replacement have surfaced, such as Carlo Ancelotti who has also been linked to Leicester, or the return of David Moyes, who directed Everton for 11 years. However, it was Thomas Tuchel who suddenly entered the field to be considered, by many, as the favorite. Everyone claims his strong character and style of play would be ideal for Everton at the moment.

The 44-year-old German coach, who left Borussia Dortmund in the spring of 2017, has been linked to several clubs since then including Barcelona. He remained in the background until the dismissal of Carlo Ancelotti, which put him in the orbit of Bayern Munich.

Jupp Heynckes is only expected to remain on the bench of Bayern until the end of the year and Tuchel, along with Julian Nagelsmann from Hoffenheim, are favorites to replace him.

Dutch Koeman took over 16 months ago and spent a significant amount of money overhauling the squad in the last transfer window, but Everton won two out of nine league games in their worst start to a season since 2005-06.
