Napoli, Inter Milan face off for Serie A lead

CAIRO – 21 October 2017: Napoli and Inter Milan will clash this Saturday for the Serie A lead. The matches between Napoli and Inter Milan in recent years have largely been forgotten. Juventus has dominated while competing for the Italian League’s lead.

Maurizio Sarri`s team, Napoli, is trying to increase the gap over Luciano Spalleti`s Inter Milan, who are looking towards the first place.

Juventus has yielded a single tie and a defeat in eight rounds in Serie A, which allowed Inter Milan and Napoli to look at their clash as an important match in their journey towards the title.

In the previous eight rounds, Napoli enjoyed a perfect score – the third in this century after eight wins (24 points) in Serie A. Only Juventus in 2005 and Roma in 2013 had added 24 points in eight games. They must defend the first position against a tough opponent.

Inter Milan, champion for five consecutive seasons between 2006 and 2010, has only yielded a draw (1 -1 in Bologna) and has 22 points, two less than the lead. Inter Milan has matched its best start of this century, which occurred in the 2002-03 season, with Hector Cúper as a coach on the bench and Christian Vieri as an attacker.

Napoli, however, enjoys a new feeling as a leader. Every day that passes adds new arguments about the dream of winning the title, which may be achieved for the second time in history and the first time since 1990.
