CAIRO –18 October 2017: The Algerian Football Federation, headed by Kheireddine Zatchi, announced the appointment of Rabah Madjer as head coach of the Algerian national team.

It is expected that the new head coach and his assistant will be presented at a press conference at 10 a.m. tomorrow morning at the Sidi Mousa National Center.

Rabah is the first African and Arabic player to score a goal in the Champions League final.
Madjer played for Porto in 1987 and participated in the final against Bayern Munich. Madjer scored the equalizer in the 77th minute and he also scored an assist for Porto’s second goal three minutes later.

Porto won the match 2-1 and became the Champions League winner for the first time.
Algeria lost its hopes in qualifying to the 2018 World Cup in Russia after they collected only one point in five matches during the World Cup qualifiers.
