CAIRO – 17 October 2017: Liverpool traveled to Slovenia to face Maribor at Stadion Ljudski vrt on Tuesday evening.

Both Liverpool and Maribor are looking for their first win in Group E. Liverpool has picked up two points from their opening two group matches against Spartak Moscow and Seville which ended with a draw. However, Maribor has one point after its draw against Spartak Moscow and loss against Seville in their last match.

The last time Liverpool faced a Slovenian team, was Olimpija Ljubljana in 2003. It was Steven Gerrard’s first game as the Reds’ captain.

This will be the first game between Maribor and Liverpool. However, Maribor has won only one of their eight games against the English opposition in all competitions. Liverpool failed to win their last seven Champions League games.
