CAIRO – 11 October 2017:Real Madrid's Welsh striker, Gareth Bale, was supposed to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s alternate, as well as the leader of the Welsh team.

He was the man who had to follow in the footsteps of Ronaldo and secure the domination of the Spanish giants.

Bale topped the list of the most expensive signings in football history (€101 million/$119 million) until Manchester United signed Pogba (€120 million). For now, he is still the biggest investment by Florentino Perez, Real Madrid’s president, for a galactic.

But in four years, he has not progressed because of his physical fragility. The repeated injuries have not given him the regular playtime necessary to become indispensable to Real Madrid or his national team.

In Real Madrid, where he has played only one out of every three matches, his absences make him expendable for Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid’s head coach. The worst thing, however, is that the coaching staff already expects him to be injured.

The team has gained everything with him entering and leaving the squad. It ended with seven of his teammates being nominated for the 2017 Golden Ball, but not him.

The latest setback to Bale is that he has been eliminated from the Welsh squad in the race towards the 2018 World Cup due to his injury.

Wales didn`t qualify to 2018 World Cup after it placed third, behind Serbia and Ireland.
In Madrid, they say he is the successor of Robert Prosinecki, Jonathan Woodgate, Ricardo Kaka and Arjen Robben, who failed because of their constant injuries.
