7 October 2017: Mesut Özil, Arsenal`s midfielder, sees FC Barcelona as his main option for the future if he does not renew his contract with Arsenal at the end of this season. According to Goal, Barcelona is, with Manchester United and Real Madrid, the only three alternatives to his possible departure from Emirates Stadium.

Of course, these are three destinations more than exquisite and complicated, especially given that Arsenal would not have made a firm proposal for contract improvement for Mesut Özil since February, when negotiations were parked earlier on doubts about the future of Arsene Wenger, Arsenal’s coach; although, negotiations between the Gunners and Özil resumed at the beginning of the season.

The contract of Özil ends on June 30, 2018, and from January 2018, he may sign any contract with another club. Of course, Arsenal is one of the options of the German international.

But Barcelona, like Manchester United, showed their interest in his signing, and Mesut would value the return to Real Madrid if that were possible; although, it seems complicated that he returns to wear white under the orders of Zidane, taking into account the competition in the center of the field.

Manchester United coach Jose Mourinho knows Özil well from his joint stage at Real Madrid, but the player would be reluctant to move to Manchester.
