CAIRO – 4 October 2017: Egypt Women’s Volleyball team flies to Cameron Capital, Yaounde, on Thursday morning to participate in the 2017 Women’s African Nations Championship.

Egypt’s manager, Maged Mostafa, chose 14 players to represent the national team. The chosen squad consists of Shorouq Fouad, Mariam Mostafa, Nahla Sameh, Dana Shawky, Rahma Hassan, Nour Yassin, Doaa El Ghobashi, Maya Mamdouh, Nada Koura, Nehal Gamal, Aya El Shami, Aya Khaled, Farida El Asqalani, and Mayar Khalifa.

The Egyptian team trained in a closed camp for several days in Cairo to prepare for the competition.

Mostafa depends on Farida El Asqalani and Aya El Shami who shined with Egypt’s U23 team at the Women’s U23 World Championship in Slovenia in September.

The top two teams will represent Africa at the 2018 FIVB Volleyball Women's World Championship in Japan.

Cameron hosts the competition from October 7 to 14.

Egypt won the title three times in 1976, 1989 and 2003; while Kenya holds the record for most titles with nine.
